Assuming I have picked the correct references, they should confirm that Ann's husband is William Smith and should give us some idea of where Ann's family were living. In addition, and all things being equal, those certificates should, in some way, support the census information you have found for Ellen Smith and mother Ann. There were not too many Jonathan Hampsons around in Stretford at the time of Ann's marriage, so it should be relatively easy to gauge whether I have ordered the correct marriage certificate. Hopefully the witnesses to the marriage may prove helpful too. I took this path because I have next to no information on Ann Hampson after her birth.
