I think my Derbyshire classmate is just a coincidence - the name just bubbled up from the recesses of my memory whilst I was reading your message. Len Hancock (b.1876), who married Ellen MacGregor was the only child (as far as I can see) of Edwin Hancock and his wife Hannah. All three were born in the area of Stoke-on-Trent (Hanley and Longport), and worked in the pottery industry. Edwin was the son of another Edwin - I've traced some of his immediate descendants through the census, but there is no Isaac amongst them. I managed to find Jonathan Hampson on the 1851 Census, still in Diamond Court, and working as a gardener, and have traced some of the descendants of his other sons, but have come to a full stop going further back, until I can get a look at 1841 to see if his birthplace is given as something more exact than 'Manchester'. If you haven't got any of that info, I'll send it on if you're interested. Best wishes Ian
