He married Mary Emily McGregor on 21 Aug 1898, in Stretford. His occupation in 1898 was given as a mechanical engineer's packer. They lived in Harcourt Street, Stretford in 1898, and at 2 Nelson Street, Eccles in 1901. Mary was born in Liverpool in 1877, the daughter of James McGregor, who was either a sailor or a master mariner, depending on which family story you believe! Joseph died 30 May 1934, and is buried in Urmston Cemetery. Their children were Constance Rhoda, William, Christina and Doris Mary. Constance was born on 25 Dec 1898. She married Clifford Sumner in 1921. Clifford was born 19 Nov 1899 in Patricroft, and died 1990 in Winton. He was the son of Thomas and Mary Elizabeth Salisbury. Their only child was Norman, born 25 Jul 1921, in Patricroft, and died 11 May 2001 in Warrington. He married Rita Daphne Clarke, dtr of Francis James Clarke and Jean Inglis. She was born in Edinburgh on 21 Feb 1921 and died in warrington, on 14 Oct 2001. Their only child was yours truly. William was born 4 July 1901. he married Gertrude Mason 28 July 1928 in Flixton. He died 17 Dec 1965; she 12 March 1981. they had two children Betty (b. 1931) and William. He was certainly in the Army as a regular at one time, but I don't know the exact dates. Christina married Frank Gifford. They had two children, Bruce and Susan. Frank was also a soldier, but again I don't know the dates of his service. Doris Mary was born 1905. She married Francis Stanislaus Lambourne. He was born 9 Jan 1897, in Indore, India, and died 1 Jan 1958. Their children were Francis (b. 12 Nov 1932), Mary (2 July 1936) and Patsy (31 July 1943). Francis married Penelope Ann Birkett and had three children, Deborah Frances, Caron Jane and Simon John Thomas. he married again, but I don't know ghis second wife#s name. Mary married John Harrison. They have two children, Paul Andrew and Mark Simon. Patsy married John Dutton. They did not have any children. I had a look for Diamond Court on a modern map, but couldn't find it. It was just off Chester Road, I think, which is a main road, and passes between both Old Traffords, the football and the cricket grounds (IMHO what could be finer?).
