I think we might be related.... In 1901, the family was at 4 Wellington Place, King Street, Stretford all the family (James was a general labourer) were there, as far as Ada, plus a boarder James Derbyshire, 22, labourer b Salford (a relative?). Mary's birthplace is given as Ashton-on-Mersey. In 1891, I have James & Mary (plus Mary Ellen and William) living at 14 Diamond Court, Stretford. His occupation is given as carter. Mary's birthplace is now given as Sale. In 1881, he is at 15 Diamond Court. The full household is: William, 47, gas stoker, b Stretford Mary, 46, b Streford James, 18, general labourer, b Stretford Eleanor, 14, scholar, b Stretford Mary Eliza, 11, scholar, b Stretford, and Joseph, 7, scholar, b Stretford Joseph was my great-grandfather. In 1871, the family were at 3 Holt Place, Peel Lane, Stretford William, 36, stoker at gas works and herbalist, b Stretford Mary, 36, b Knutsford (Cheshire) William, 10, scholar James, 8 scholar Ellen, 4, scholar Mary E, 1, scholar In 1861, the family was at what looks like 3 Peel End Lane, Stretford William 27 ag lab, b Streford Mary, 26 laundress, b Knutsford I haven't yet got any further back than that.
