I live deep in the wild wood - about a mile from a made up road. Whilst we don't have a designated burial ground, we do have an ancient tree where generations of courting couples (me included) have carved their names. This is a very precious place for many people and obviously a lot of ashes are scattered here. There are always little crosses, posies and poems left round the bowl of the tree. Whilst it is not at all spooky, I had an old terrier who was absolutely obedient, except when we went to the tree. Then she would not come away and wagged her tail and looked into space constantly.
