Message From: "Chris & Caroline" To: <HAMPSHIRE-LIFE-L@rootsweb.com> UPDATES: CALSHOT has now been added to the list ~~~~~~~~~ This was most interesting - thankyou, Chris. Only went there a couple of times as a child & thought it was a dreadful hole - bleak & ugly - not realising the huge historic significance of the place. Visited again in 1992 with my old school friend as her husband & sons used to surf there & was pleasantly surprised - not half as bad as I'd remembered it! By pure chance, Derek & I became friendly with an older couple the first time we went up to Rarotonga (Cook Islands) a few years ago. It turns out that, like us, they were also English residents of NZ & he had served part of his time in the armed forces at Calshot. Small world! M, NZ
