    3. Biddlecombe Family Search - who is out there - Hi!, my name is Len Payne, I am looking for family links for the Biddlecombe family. My great grandfather was Charles Arthur Biddlecombe believed to be from Leicester (1860 - 1950), he had a son Reginald Arthur Charles Biddlecombe, who was lost on the Titanic (1880 - 1912), he was married to Emily Mintrum who bore him four children, Reginald Roland Victor (1900 - 1969), Christopher Percy, (1902 - 1970), and twins Charles Wilfred (1904 - 1948) and Eudora Winifred (1904 - 1973). They resided in the Shirley area of Southampton. In or about 1906 Reginald left his wife Emily and formed an alliance with my grandmother, Ethel Payne, whose husband Robert Payne had died. As a result of their common law relationship, my father Leonard Payne, was born in 1908. They continued to live together until the Titanic disaster. My grandmother remarried Frederick Warn, and had another six children under that name. My father had an elder brother Harold Payne by my grandmothers first union. I have traced my immediate cousin Christopher Biddlecombe, born 1932, who was the son of Christopher Percy Biddlecombe. I would like to find out more about my great grandfather Charles Arthur Biddlecombe, as well as my grandmothers first husband Robert Payne. I am aware there are several descendants of the Biddlecombe family living in the Leicester and Southampton area. All research I have undertaken for both Payne and Biddlecomb(e) have encountered the unscalable "brick wall", especially for Robert Payne who doesn't seem to have existed, although there are numerous descendants of his son Harold Payne, my fathers step brother, living in the Fair Oak/Bishopstoke area as well as in Southampton. The search for my great grandfather poses another problem, my cousin Christopher, the son of Christopher Percy Biddlecombe, assures me that he was born in Leicester in 1860 and died in 1950 in Southampton. Subsequent research in the Church of Latter Day Saints records of the 1881 census however shows Arthur Biddlecomb(e) aged 24, birthplace Bramshaw, Hampshire, married to M.J. Biddlecomb(e) aged 26, birthplace Wellow, Hampshire, a daughter Ida A. Biddlecomb(e), aged 6 years, birthplace Wellow, Hampshire and Reginald A. Biddlecomb(e) aged 10 months, birthplace Canada, Wiltshire. At this time the family was residing at Wilsford, Wiltshire. There the trail ends, any help will be appreciated.
