Thanks to those who replied on Lt Risdale, further information has just come in which may help out. As I said she has tried the Military lists but to no avail. Chris Lt Ridsdale was John Herbert Ridsdale, born 16th Dec. 1908 at 21 Hindes Road, Wealdstone, eldest son of Harold Edgar Ridsdale (afterwards Rev. Ridsdale) and Ruth Margaret Ridsdale, nee Rowsell. At the time of his birth his father was a schoolmaster at St Nicholas' School, Harrow. He was unmarried at the time of his death, but if he had survived the war he would have married my mother (and I presumably wouldn't exist in my present form!) I have found out one other bit of information about his service record. The London Gazette is online and records that Cadet John Herbert Ridsdale became a 2nd Lieutenant on 27th December 1941.
