    3. Thank you Chris. I am amazed. The most interesting to my case is the reference to the Stockbridge Race Course which straddled the Wallop-Longstock boundary. This refers to John Day as the trainer for Lord George Bentick. He can be found in the 1881 as a "Trainer Of Race Horses" living at Danbury. His son-in-law Tom, which the report also mentions, can be found in Houghton as a "Jockey Owner Of Racehorses 8". It was interesting that Tom was the g.grandfather of Lester Piggott . Nether Wallop,Danbury and Stockbridge are within a 3 mile radius of Houghton. The Stockbridge course closed in 1898, but my people were still in business.. Thank you again O source of Wisdom David

    3. some of my ancestors worked at racing stables, they moved around quite a bit from Appleshaw to Fullerton, Fyfield and Weyhill. At one time my grandfather was a jockey. Their surname was Miles, but this was the late 1800 early 1900's ----- Original Message ----- From: "Chris & Caroline" <crhayles@btinternet.com> To: <hampshire-life@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, March 30, 2007 1:43 PM Subject: Re: [HAMPSHIRE-LIFE] Horse Racing > Glad to help David > Like a little flutter on the GG's occassionally > Chris > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "David Parker" <parker3250@rogers.com> > To: "HampshireLife List" <HAMPSHIRE-LIFE-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Friday, March 30, 2007 12:14 AM > Subject: Re: [HAMPSHIRE-LIFE] Horse Racing > > > Thank you Chris.
