Hello Roger, I think that this might, just might, be your Maria BROOMFIELD living with her daughter in 1881 and both widowed. Even though both of their names have been given as Mary Ann and Mary respectively, both said that they were born in Lyndhurst, a couple of miles up the road from Minstead. Mary Ann's birthdate is right, but her daughter's seems to be a bit out. The transcriber could have mistaken a 2 for a 3?? The only Maria BROOMFIELDs in the census are much too young and none that I could find born in Minstead.
