    3. Hello all, This is another longshot but someone may be able to help or is connected to my Robert SMITH born about 1863 Alverstoke. Preamble: I have just received Robert's full service papers with the Royal Artillary 3/Middlesex Reg 1885-1898, and on these his next of kin are recorded as: at Sutton Scotney Father Richard Smith (crossed out) Mother Sarah Smith Brothers, James, George, David, Richard (younger) John, and sisters, Jane and Deborah Smith. Robert is recorded as a wheelwright and painter having served an apprenticeship with Mr GOATER of Sparsholt with whom he was living when he enlisted in 1885 - but no address. Robert was discharged to an address in South Africa and I have no idea of what happened to him afterward. If anyone knows anything about, has connections to, or can help me with this SMITH family (it would be Smith, wouldn't it!) then I would be very grateful for the info. His Burma medals with clasps were found in the effects of my late aunt, and none of us have any real idea as to who Robert Smith was. Plenty of theories, but nothing concrete. Finding his family might help. Thanks Vicki Turner
