Hello Margaret and list, It is the list admin who decides what is "inappropriate" for each list. Having said that, your message could only have been rejected if you were placed on moderated status, so that all of your messages are held for the admin's approval, and if you've only just subscribed (and have no previous record of flouncing the list rules) then one can only assume that the admin places everyone on moderated status when they first subscribe. You will need to clarify that with the list admin in question. All members of this list might care to take note that the "rules" for the list are fairly lax; the only thing I would ask is that your posts have some relevance to the county of Hampshire. It is worth noting, too, since we are on the subject, that this list is for non-genealogical topics; posts that are specifically genealogy-oriented (e.g. BDMs, names, dates, etc.) would be better directed to our "sister" list, ENG-HAMPSHIRE@rootsweb.com. Paying attention to this particular distinction between the lists will keep the archives more easily browsed/searched by future researchers, and perhaps lead to your finding more "cousins".
