Was it only country schools that partook in these activities, as I am quite sure we never had things like this in London.. and I know, now living in the country here in NZ.. the children do it still.. as again, when we lived in Wellington (Capital of NZ) are daughter never did it at primary school, but did when moving up to Carterton! I had never experienced anything like it... wonderful.. and made things with fruit and vegetables... Even when she attended Playcentre they did it.. but not in my time at school in London (1949-50s not 1800s before Chris decides to say something!)
