    3. We have had one or two people ask us about an icon that appears on their desktop, we have had this ourselves and could not understand where it had come from. But here is the answer!! Chris and Caroline Question: I have an icon that keeps appearing on my desktop. The name under the icon is ~ (tilde). Now I deleted this file from the desktop Thursday evening when a friend called and asked me if I had this icon on my desktop. She said that when she deletes it that it comes back on when she gets mail in Outlook. Do you have any idea what this might be or how I would find out? Thanks for any help you might have for me. Weezie Answer: The "~" (tilde) file is most likely appearing as the result of installing the "April 2003, Cumulative Patch for Outlook Express (330994)". Microsoft knows about the problem. You're not the only one who's had this file appear on their desktop. This file most often appears after you reply to an email and have Outlook Express set up to automatically add the person you're replying to added to your address book. Right now it appears it's a random problem but it happens to a lot of people. You can either live with the problem until it's fixed or uninstall (not recommended) the "April 2003 Cumulative Patch" by using the uninstall information described in the following Microsoft article: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/critical/330994/default.asp --- All of our Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
