    3. Hi all Have just received a burial list with my mum & dad's names on, via a distant cousin. The list originated from a council bereavement services unit,. It gives the address in both cases as our family home which was correct for dad who died in 1950 but not for mum who died in 1992 in a nursing home. Does anyone know why this may be, please? For instance, do they take the information from the current electoral roll or could it just have been a case of the rest home not updating their records (mum had been there only a few months before she died). Would be quite interested to know whether it was just human error or whether or not there is a valid reason for it. regards, Maureen, NZ

    3. Hi Maureen, I don't think there is any hard and fast rule about this. When my Mum died in a nursing home that was the address given on her death certificate, but when my aunt died her home address was listed on the death certificate. I can only assume it is down to whoever registers the death and the address they give - technically I suppose if your Mum still had her own home that, if well enough, she could have returned to, then that was her home address. Sadly, we had to sell my Mum's house to pay for her care, so technically the nursing home was therefore her only home at that time.
