Hello list members I have just subscribed to this list and thank you very much to the List Administrators for their warm welcome, advice and help in publishing a family photograph for help with identification. Already there has been one very helpful reply. Thank you Moya. I am researching my Grandfathers family. He was John SELF (with or without an E )born 31/10/1866 Hursley, Hampshire to Charles SELF born about 1827 Hursley and Eliza BURTON born about 1827 Hursley. My Grandfather claimed he only had two sisters Charlotte and Eliza and in fact we have a photograph of him with (I assume) his parents and two girls. However on checking the LDS site I found several other children born to a Charles and Eliza SELF William Charles b 1851, Jane b 1853 Mary b 1855 Charlotte b 1857 Charles b 1858 Harry b 1860 Lucy b 1862 John b 1866 Eliza b 1869 . Hence my quandry. Did he not like his other siblings and pretended they didn't exist?<g> were there two sets of parents with the same names? I haven't located any as yet. I am unsure where to go with this one. Any advice welcomed. John emigrated to Western Australia in 1887 to take up farming land.
