Surely antipodes means a place diametrically opposite to another; therefore the Australasian region cannot claim to be the Antipodes, as Europe is as much the antipodes of Australasia as Australasia is the antipodes of Europe; that is of course unless Australasia is claiming to be permanently diametrically opposed to the rest of the world.
