    3. Message from Chris at Hampshire Life, he found on a map a site in Wiltshire called New Zealand, well I have Googled New Zealand Hampshire and come up with the following... 29 pages later....curiosity got the better of me, but I had seen it on the atlas some time ago, and never bothered about it... seems there is a bit of history there, I thought perhaps a new town.. but...read on.. then I thought perhaps it had to do with WW1 when New Zealand Soldiers where in hospitals in England, one I knew off was at Brockenhurst, then another one at Walton on Thames... yes I have quoted both Hampshire and Wiltshire..it comes under British History on line. CHUTE. A History of Wiltshire. Chute is on the boundary of Wiltshire and Hampshire. Roman road goes through the area. New Zealand Farm was built 1841 and 1879. 600m. east of Gammons Farm, in the mid 20th Century Chantry Farm was built south of New Zealand Farm... (this is quoted on page 7 of 29) I would therefore suggest that anyone as interested as I am in this name, should print out the page(s) and have a read of some lovely English history..Barons. Viscounts.. Right through out England one can come across names of other cities spread through out the world, Washington for one... so the English do not need a passport to travel to New Zealand any more, its right on their doorstep! I will now make a coffee, and read up about Chute and New Zealand.. Wonder who named it as such... that is what I would like to know.. since it only came into being 1840.. did one of the locals visit NZ or their relatives.. This is why I have sent this to both Hampshire and New Zealand site... Adele Clareville.

You can see the list of the soldiers who died on the CWGC website at http://www.cwgc.org/cwgcinternet/cemetery_reports.aspx?cemetery=45456&mode=1 I will be adding this a bit later., when we have photographed all the graves there.
