Yes, I remember the Onion seller who used to cycle round Marchwood with his strings of onions. The same man came year after year and I would imagine he made a decent living because I am fairly sure that he was still coming during the 60's. If he wasn't French then he was a good actor because he used to talk about his family and life in France. The onions were red and always good quality.
