PORTSMOUTH With the success of the Trafalgar 200 celebrations today saw a dramatic start to the Festival of the Sea at Porstmouth with a re-enactment of the deck of Victory being created and the firing of broadsides. Road were closed and buses held up, a dozen extra trains were also put on and at one time the Harbour Railway station had to close with over 1,000 people being stranded! WINCHESTER After many years of campaigning King Alfreds College is now to be known as the University of Winchester and is one of the smallest universities in the country. EASTLEIGH The long awaited cinema is now under consideration, plans have been submitted to build the cinema (7 screens), a hotel, bowling alley, gym and restaurant above what is now the Tesco car park on Southampton Road. The car park will be closed during the construction but will reopen when completed.
