Yep funny bunch over in NZ...we all have the accent from home as well..What a mixture...and we all mix well!! Half the time, I would never know if I was talking to a visitor to New Zealand, or if the person was living here..I have been in NZ since 1970s, and still cant lose the London accent, was told that my message on answerphone sounds like The Queen, well who is complaining...yet when we returned in 1976 to Wellington, my husband was told he was from Scotland...yep born and bred in Wellington.NZ. Only visited Scotland for a short few weeks holiday! We had been living in Surrey for nearly 5 years.. I used to love to listen to the dialect from Somerset... and to visit family in Ulster, I could never ever understand my Uncle..such a broad accent... wonder why he called me Dopey!! I wondered if Royal Mail could understand the message they sent you...sounds to me like double dutch!
