Hi Listers I am trying to find out what happened to 2 of my gg uncles and hope SKS will be able to help. One the 1851 Census Andrew (22) and William WINTER (20) are at Plymouth Citadel Barracks Plymouth Devon in the military. There are a few other Durley lads on the list: Richard Gumbleton (22 - Upham) John S Knapp (22 - Durley) William Pavey (20 - Durley) Can any one throw any light on any of these lads and the reason they may have been signing up? I am trying to find out what happened to Andrew and William as I cannot find them on later Census records. I suspect that they may have died during the course of their service. To date I have not been able to locate their deaths. I would really appreciate some help with this as locating them will complete the tree for this family for the 1800's. In case anyone is interested I have downloaded all the soldiers listed at Plymouth Citadel Barracks on the 1851 that originated from Hampshire. There were approx 760 men there altogether when the census was taken. Best wishes Bev
