    3. My mother told me her grandfather was Paddy Doyle - of course short of looking for the proverbial "John Smith" it couldn't have been more awkward to research. When I obtained the marriage cert by searching the spouses name - it transpired he was Frances Doyle. Everyone called him 'Paddy' because he was Irish!
