    2. Lychett Heath is definitely Dorset. The 1972 shift of boundaries put Bournemouth and Christchurch into Dorset. The old boundary can be found on many modern street maps and passes through Westbourne continueing north to Boundary Rd. The first bus stop as you entered Westbourne used to be known as County Gates although as far as I know there were never any gates. People living in Branksome, Canford Cliffs and Sandbanks always used Bournemouth as their postal address even before the introduction of post codes and we always used to say that the 'best bits of Bournemouth were actually in Poole.'
