Hi all, Just to add that I will be away all day tomorrow, Saturday, but I will save all your messages for Chris and Caroline and pass them along when I next speak to her. Moya
Hi all, I have just had a phone call from Caroline to tell me that Chris had a heart attach on Tuesday and is in the RHCH in Winchester. She is hoping he will be home on Sunday but that depends on his progress. So if you all wondered why he has been so quiet, you now know why!! Caroline is not familiar with the computer but thinks Chris's Inbox is probably a bit jammed by now so if you send him 'get well wishes' and they bounce back it is nothing personal - send them again when he gets home and clears his mail. I will be in touch with Caroline and let you know when he is coming home. Moya
Chris, we are thinking about you! You, too, Caroline! We have been down that road, also.....very scary, but so thankful that you are doing better! Get well, Chris and take care of yourself........ Good luck Mate & best wishes to Caroline too Take care Linda & Tony
I have spent today at the Hampshire RO and obtained many interesting pieces of information some of which I photocopied. On closer inspection this evening the burial at St Mary Sholing in 1893 reads as follows Name Rachel Breadmore Abode Sholing When buried Jan 9 1893 Age 72 years By whom the ceremony was performed Burial Act 1880 Certified by Francis Breadmore Francis was Rachel's husband and all the other entries (except one) have the name of the Vicar in this column. I have never come across this before and wonder what it means. Can anyone help? -- Margaret Young margaret@breadmore.org Breadmore One-Name Study (GOONS 2503) http://www.breadmore.org/
Hi Moya, Thank you for this. It is always with reluctant that one is the messenger of bad news, but without knowledge we cannot help. Chris is dear to us all, so again thank you. . I survived a heart in 1982. Chris is as determined an individual as I am and if I have lived at least 23 years after mine so can he. We will pray for him. But, it is the family that suffers as well as the individual. They put on a brave face to hide from the patient how frightened they are, and in many ways their fear is greater than that of the patient.. We will pray for caroline. Let us know what we can do to encourage both him and Caroline. Hello Everyone I've recently been introduced to the London Gazette on-line, and would like to ask if anyone can advise on some information I've found. I'm tracing a relatively rare family surname - DIDYMUS - and on putting this into the LG search box for WW1, I am presented with two options. One I am already aware of - my Gt Uncle AL DIDYMUS (RAMC) was awarded the Military Medal. However, the second entry is a little more confusing. The entry lists dates and the headings (for example) "After Open Competition", "After Limited Competition" and "Without Competetion". Thomas Mark DIDYMUS otherwis BULLER, has an entry for 30 January 1918, "Without Competition", Admiralty, HM Dockyards and Naval Establishments: Labourer, Frederick Jenkins - where he is listed under Skilled Labourers. Can any one please try and explain what this is - I'd be really interested to know what it's all about!! Could be a competition to do with Shooting or Rifle Competition. I had such a relative. Also did you check the Commonwealth Ware Graves site in case he was in WWI. Just some thoughts....
