3. Hi there, I have just learned something from your posting. Nothing to do with wills. I had not realised that there was another Mapledurham. In Hampshire rather than on the border of Oxfordshire and Berkshire, just across the river from Caversham where some of my ancestors lived. In fact, my sister was born there, and I lived there for a while. I knew about Mapledurwell but not Mapledurham. Thanks for that. It might help me in the future from making a mistake. Yours Vicki Turner

3. I am seeking information on the following: CHESTER Ann a widow, found in 1861 & 1881 census at Norfolk Crescent South Hayling, a boarding-house keeper. In 1861 there was a 10 year old boarder, Charlotte WHITE living there.. I am interested especially in Miss WHITE as she was illegitimate, and after her birth had nothing to do with her birth mother or any of the family as far as is known. She was born in Essex on March 19th 1851, and baptised on 30th November 1852 at St. Lawrence Winchester. The film extract of her baptism from the register ( No. 311 ) gives her name, mother's name, "reputed" father's name, place of birth & "occupations" of parents. Is there any other record that might give the names of those present at the baptism ? And does anybody have any info re Mrs. CHESTER and/or her boarding house. TIA Joy. New Zealand.

1. [HantsLife] BRIDGER
2. Hello all, With thanks largely to the generosity of listers, my BRIDGER database now exceeds 2,800 entries. But I'm always looking to add to it:-) Please drop me a line if you have any BRIDGER births, deaths and/or marriages you would like to share (Hampshire and Surrey only please) and I will add them to the database. If you have a missing BRIDGER, let me know and I'll see if he/she is amongst the current entries. I would particularly like to hear from anyone who has information on the 18th century Greatham BRIDGERs. In 1751, Thomas and William BRIDGER of Greatham were involved in a rather 'colourful' courtcase -- found at the Old Bailey site : http://www.oldbaileyonline.org/search/ Interestingly, witnesses at the trial included FIGGE and KEMP, two other names which appear in my family tree. 1. [HantsLife] BILSON - Buriton, Hamps
2. Ed and Helen Ginn
3. Hello Listers: I have recently been successful three times over in finding ancestral connections through wills and this has proven to be a good way of searching as these documents give information about family ties etc. that one would not ordinarily know about in the 1700 time frame. In searching for a Judith BILSON the mystery lady in the Ginn family tree who had a son James, I had hoped she might have been mentioned in a will from Hampshire, but the BILSON will for Susannah BILSON widow of Buriton Hamps that I took a chance on downloading does not mention a Judith BILSON or her son James. I am wondering if the information in this document might be of help to someone who is searching a Susannah BILSON of Mapledurham Parish, Buriton. The document states that she wants to be buried in the vault in the parish church of Buriton privately. Names mentioned in the will - the Earl of Dartmouth, Elizabeth Legg, Leonard Bilson, Susanna Brown, Rev. William Brown and his daughter Ann Brown. The will was proved 1739 in London. If any of the names mentioned are in your family tree and you don't already have this information please contact ginn@ebtech.net It appears as though the Judith BILSON I am looking for, who married a William GINN, had signed her name in 1804 on her marriage licence so she knew how to write. Any suggestions as to where there may have been BILSONs living in the Christchurch area of Hampshire in 1800 would be welcome. It appears as though this was a marriage of a widower and possibly a widow, but nothing on the marriage licence other than both were from the parish of Christchurch. 3. This is off topic but we thought that we would share it with you all. After a bit of umming and aahing we decided to install Mail Washer as we are now receiving an average of around 20-30 spam mailings a day now. The programme is free and it seems to be working, takes a bit of getting used to though as you open it instead of Outlook or Outlook Express then delete all the spam which is bounced back to the senders and blacklisted and the friends ones are put on a special list. We will see how it goes and give a report a bit later. 3. Roger asked, " Does that mean that he was the only one with information regarding her.?" The 'informant' on a death certificate is the person who actually reported the death to the Registrar. He need have been nowhere near the deceased when he died, and need not be the *only person to have sufficient knowledge to report the death. His name is included because he reported it. On the other hand if a person is actually present when the person dies, and reports the death, the certificate actually says "present at death". HTH Brian
