Hello Moya and everybody, Wadwick is a small hamlet and I mean small, about one mile north of St. Mary Bourne, fifteen minutes drive from here. It is very pretty with lots of primroses and bluebells in spring and a lot of mud in winter. Cheers for now, Rod in Sunny Andover.
Hello all yes agree with Moya sounds a lovely place., we honestly wouldn't have known it was on Hampshire Life website any more than you Moya if it hadn't been for a google search......we feel guilty now for not seeing it there:-)) Sorry Chris! On Tuesday afternoon, a boatman named James NANCARROW 26 St James Street Portsea was afloat in his boat off Fareham Quay when he found a skull floating on the surface of the water at the stern of the Norwegian barge "HURSS". He handed it to Constable NASH who conveyed it to the public mortuary. The coroner has since decided not to hold an inquest. It is believed the skull may have come from Mile End Cemetery, the rear wall of which abuts the shore in the vicinity of Flathouse Quay. Linda & Tony

We would like to send our condolences to the British and American servicemens families and friends who tragically died today in Kuwait. We would also like to wish all the servicemen engaged in this conflict our wholehearted support and wish them a speedy return to their homes. But please keep all other messages on this conflict off list out of courtesy and consideration to those that are involved. If you want to show all our boys and girls out there that you support them?? Go to....... https://www.superletter.com/bfpo/BulletinBoardMsg.cfm and send a message of support. Let them all see that they have your support. (this is mainly for the UK troops, I expect there is a similar site for the US Forces, but why not post them here as well as they are all working together) Chris and Caroline --- All of our Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Hi Moya, A "google" search came up with the following links which might be of some help. Wadwick *is* in St Mary Bourne. The last link is to the Rootsweb Wessex Plus list archive where there was a discussion on it some time ago. http://www.envf.port.ac.uk/hantsgaz/hantsgaz/s0007386.htm http://www.hants.gov.uk/hampshiretreasures/vol02/page268.html http://www.hants.gov.uk/decisions/decisions-docs/011128-reguct-R7.html http://newsarch.rootsweb.com/th/read/WESSEX-PLUS/2001-02/0981908703 Yours Vicki Turner

While doing a lookup for someone on the 1851 census, I came across someone's place of birth as Wadwick, Hampshire. I have checked Chris's Hants Life site and cannot find a mention of it there, but it is certainly listed on the 1851 census. Under the village of St Mary Bourne Parish Codes it is listed as - 070 Wadwick. Has anyone any idea where this could be? Moya Page (nee Banting) researching BANTING and PERREN in Hampshire

I have just found a great site called Aftermath - I don't know if it is known to you, but it is largely dedicated to World War One, and a must for anyone who had ancestors who fought then, with stories and details of memorial amongst the many items here. There is an area where people can swop and ask for information about those who fought. http://www.aftermathww1.com/index.asp Do particularly check under the heading 'Musical' and especially on the drop down menu 'Green Fields of France'. Here are the words to a song about William McBride, killed in the war. Also at the bottom of the page, beside the red poppy is a chance to hear Eric Bogle sing 'Waltzing Matilda' about the war in Gallipoli and later the ANZAC Day parades.
