Message From: "Chris & Caroline" To: <HAMPSHIRE-LIFE-L@rootsweb.com> Subject: [HantsLife] School photos and old town photos We have now added a selection of old school photographs of Eastleigh, Fair Oak and Bishopstoke. ~~~~~~~ Thankyou for these, Chris. Eastleigh's very first school looked adorable. It's good to be able to tuck away extra little bits of info too such as the association with Rev Wilberforce. The Parish Church that was gutted by fire had obviously been a very fine building too.

Jo put me on to Ray Hancock a while ago & he was excellent - extremely helpful & friendly, seeming to go out of his way to help. If I ever get back to UK, there are a few very kind 'officials' in the Southampton & Winchester ROs I'd like to trac down to thank them personally for all their help, given so cheerfully. First try the parish register of Curdridge. Hampshire Record Office has the burial registers 1835-1934. As you are only looking for a single entry, the staff at HRO will probably check the register for you. Send an enquiry via the HRO website. If the entry is not there, check the registers of the neighbouring parishes and the Southampton cemeteries. Hi Suzanne Harrup, Saw your thank you and the names listed. Are any of your WATTS from the Suffolk area? If so please let me know as we link into the Suffolk WATTS. Yours hopefully Veronica
Hello, Is there anybody who is researching the LUSH name in Hampshire? I am looking for information on William Charles LUSH, born about 1886, he married my gt-gt Aunt, Mabel DUKE in Romsey in 1907. His father is Silas William LUSH. I have been told that "Auntie May was married to Bill and they lived in East Grimstead" (accompanied by a vague wave of the hand in the general direction) Is East Grimstead technically part of Wiltshire or was it once part of Hampshire? Many thanks Jo Visit my Romsey page at: www.zebster.com/jo

This little Pagan celebrated May Day/Beltane in the traditional way taught to me by my grandfather, by planting the first seedlings of the spring. but on the downside there was no maypole on the village green in Yateley as there was when i was a child and by the morning i bet the slugs have had a party of their own on my freshly planted seedlings. Happy May Day everyone and a blessed Beltane to you all, Suzanne
I don't think my tree would even have reached the seedling stage without the help I have received from this list. Grateful thanks from me too for all the responses I've received with my cries for help. Knowledge is no good if we keep it to ourselves, it only becomes of use when we share it. Best wishes Bev

We often see people asking for help in tracing their family and for other information, and this list is great for getting results (so we are told!) due to the fine bunch of people on it. BUT have you sent a thank you to the person who just sent you the marriage details of Great Uncle Egbert or Aunty Mabel? Have you sent a thank you to the kind person who advised you to check here or there for something you requested? A little thank you email can go a long way so don't forget!! This was sent in by Pam in Arizona who saw it on another list and we thought it appropriate!! Chris and Caroline They think that I should cook and clean, and be a model wife. I tell them it's more interesting to study Grandpa's life. They simply do not understand why I hate to go to bed... I'd rather do two hundred years of research work instead. Why waste the time we have on earth just snoring and asleep? When we can learn of ancestors that sailed upon the deep? We have Priests, Rabbis, lawmen, soldiers, more than just a few. And yes, there's many scoundrels, and a bootlegger or two. How can a person find this life an awful drudge or bore? When we can live the lives of all those folks who came before? A hundred years from now of course, no one will ever know Whether I did laundry, but they'll see our Tree and glow... 'Cause their dear old granny left for them, for all posterity, not clean hankies and the like, but a finished family tree. My home may be untidy, 'cause I've better things to do... I'm checking all the records to provide us with a clue. Old great granny's pulling roots and branches out with glee, Her clothes ain't hanging out to dry, she's hung up on the Tree. Chris, Very good point, my family tree would still be just a sapling if it were not for the wonderful people of this list, so i am going to heed your request and say a HUGE thank you to everyone here who has help me more than a few times, especially to Sue Allen who has practically grown my tree for me, with all her endless look ups for me, So once again thank you all, and long may this remain one of the most genuine helpful friendly list on the internet :0) Suzanne Harrup trying to round up all the WATTS, WHITE'S and YATES
I have most of the puzzle together. thank all of you. keep on-keeping on-never quit.
