Hi Alan - not much light to shed but I note that Annie and Walter both spent most of their young years with grandmother Diana DYETT/PRESTON. This might suggest that Sarah and Annie both married but left their illegitimate child with her, or that they came to some other 'end'. I have searched the censuses for likely 'culprits' but nothing definite. As DYETT is an unusual name, a search of the BDM indexes at a family history centre might be fruitful, if you haven't already done this of course.. Sorry not to be more help. Cheers, Patsy - New Zealand. > I'm looking for Sarah DYETT (b. 1835) and daughter Annie Eliza (b. 1855). > Both had children but no husbands (Annie had Walter John in 1872).
