Take care,Linda and Tony Harriett MESSUM and Daniel SILVESTER married on 27-2-1837 at St Marys, Portsea. Could anyone find out any further details of this marriage as we would like to know the father of Harriett MESSUM ???.

We have now searched for the witnesses of Harriett's marriage (Maria and Henry Richard Messem) & found : In the IGI there are the following christenings all with : Father : EBDEN MESSEM, Mother : ANN Henry Richard MESSEM Male Christening: 6-10-1811, Saint Faith, Havant, Hampshire Maria MESSEM Female Christening : 8-12-1816, Saint Thomas, Bedhampton, Hampshire Charles Dismore MESSEM Male Christening : 16-7-1820, Saint Thomas, Bedhampton, Hampshire ................................................................ There is also the following marriage : Edward MESSEM & Ann DISMORE on 9-12-1804 at Saint Marys, Portsea, Hampshire .................................................................. I think we can assume EBDEN MESSEM & EDWARD MESSEM are the same person, with their son, Charles having a second first name DISMORE , the name Edben being mistranscribed from the parish register. Now looking at Edward & Ann MESSEM as parents there is : Harriett MESSEM Female Christening : 15-4-1810, Saint Marys, Portsea, Hampshire Father : Edward MESSEM Mother : Ann All this would point to confirm that at the wedding of Harriett Messum the witnesses were her sister, Maria, and her brother, Henry Richard, and that her parents were Edward MESSUM / EM & Ann MESSUM (nee Dismore) Would it be possible for you to look for the marriage of Edward MESSEM & Ann DISMORE on 9-12-1804 at Saint Marys, Portsea, and mabe any witnesses might be other Messums from which we can go further back ???
