Hello Chris our gut feeling is Farnham but only that. Fawnham would be Farnham Surrey and Crondall to Farnham depending on where isn't far. We can supply the full details for St Mary's Portsea marriage if you like:? You might already have them though. The marriage may provide a small clue to include or exclude this one. We wait to hear from you. Linda and Tony The story so far:- Henry was arrested in Crondall parish in 1835 for stealing 6 tame rabbits belonging to John MARTIN and a frock from Elizabeth STEVENS and received 7yrs transportation to Australia for each offence. Once he was on board the ship "England" on its 3rd voyage he became very well documented. Henry said he was 23yrs old (birth yr 1812?) and could neither read or write and was married with 1 daughter and his native place was Fawnham? Surrey. He married Elizabeth SHANNON in 1858 and had 6 children. I am descended from the 6th child. On this marriage certificate he said he was from Surrey, on the birth certificates for his 1st, 2nd and 6th children he also said he was from Surrey. However for the other children he said he was from Hampshire. His age when he married and for the birth of each child jumps all over the place and he died in 1889 aged 77 (birth yr 1812). My problem is this, I am unable to confirm a birth for Henry although there is a possibility of him being born in 1809 to mother Ann HAWKINS in Farnham, Surrey and there is also a possible marriage to a Sarah ROOD in 1833 at St Marys Portsea. Does anyone recognise Henry or can help me find his family prior to 1835? I hope so. Thank you in advance Chris Randall
