Thanks Michael and Jean ... for the references for Benjamin Marsh. I have a copy of his first marriage certificate for 1859 and I had been told a long time ago that he had possibly been married three times. These references seem to confirm this. Marriage 2 in 1875 not long after my grandmother was born in 1872 (her mother died when she was born). Marriage 3 in 1882. Also his death in 1882. Again I had been told that he had died when my grandmother was about 10. Benjamin's father William Marsh was born about 1811 and his mother was Honor Hunebun Marsh nee Bleathman. I had found a reference to a William Marsh born about this date but married to Mary Ann ? I wasn't sure if this was a red herring or not. I had hoped to find out with the 1851 census. Thanks anyway.
