    3. Dear both of you, I had, on my previous visits to UK consulted thoroughly the Victoria History of Surrey for the CHRISTMAS families. I learnt too late before my return to New Zealand that the CHRISTMASes probably came out of HANTS, in particular from ITCHEN ABBAS around the 1500s, where, I understand some generations of CHRISTMASes were clergy, with BAs or divinity qualifications from OXFORD UNIVERSITY. From memory, it looks like the Vic Hist of Hants goes further back in time than the Sy History, to your item dated 1241 in your first e-mail. Could you please tell me if there is any way of accessing the VICTORIA HISTORY OF HAMPSHIRE on line or getting at parts of it from this 'remote' location of NZ Kind regards, Ray Christmas. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Knightroots@aol.com> To: <HAMPSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, August 27, 2005 3:39 AM Subject: [Ham] Liss & AUBREY connections > Victoria History of Hampshire > > In 1752 Charles COLE's will left part of the manor of Liss to his wife Mary > and the remainder to his cousin Herbert AUBREY and his daughters > Elizabeth,Judith,Arabella and Anne. > Part was also left to a Harcourt AUBREY. > The manor was inherited by Richard Aubrey COLE,son of Harcourt AUBREY in > 1783 until it was sold in 1807 to the FITZPATRICK family. > > > > > ==== HAMPSHIRE Mailing List ==== > practice safe text - tell the Listowners about virus worries - DON'T > SPREAD IT ON THE LIST! > >
