Hi Alan, I had a bit of time on my hands and thought I would do my good deed for the day. I looked up the information you provided and found the following information on each of the Census records. As you can see the age on the 1901 census record is a bit suspect. 1901 Florence Bannister Wife M aged 24 c1877 Hants Cowes 1891 Florence M Mumford Servant S aged 20 c1871 Domestic Servant East Cowes Isle of Wight 1881 Florence Munford aged 11 c1870 Scholar West Cowes That puts the age birth year range between 1870 and 1877 but there was no record of her within this period. I then found a likely entry as follows which fits in perfectly with the age given on the 1881 census as it was taken April 2: 1869 Q4 Florence MUMFORD I. Wight 2b 531 You can access the entry at ancestry via the link below though you may have to have an ancestry subscription. I cannot seem to find any information about her birth (which would be about 1874 - if her age is correct on the census) or confirm her exact details on the earlier censuses. On the 1891 census I think she is Florence M MUMFORD on RG12/885/99/21 as a servant - born about 1871. On the 1881 census I think she is Florence MUNFORD on RG11/1172/65/15 living at home with her parents, Frederick and Emma Jane MUNFORD - aged about 11. I am hoping that the 1901 census is wrong and that it is actually Florence MUMFORD born about 1869 The problem of MUNFORD/MUMFORD is an ongoing issue!! Does anybody agree/disagree with my thoughts? TIA Alan
