Thanks Linda and Tony SOMERSET TO FASSIFERN VALLEY The Gray Family celebrate 125 years in Australia with a Family Reunion Day On the 3rd of May this year it will be 125 years since the "Storm King" arrived in Moreton Bay carrying two Gray brothers, their wives and families. Silas GRAY b 1845 Middle Chinnock Somerset England married Jane GARRETT in East Chinnock in 1866. His brother Walter GRAY b 1847 married her sister Eliza GARRETT in 1869 at Sandown on the Isle of Wight. When they emigrated Silas and Jane had 2 Children, Clara and Walter Adolphus They went on to have 4 other children here in Qld. They are buried at Mt Walker Walter GRAY and Eliza brought daughter Mary Jane and son Joseph Robert from England and produced 8 more Queenslanders.Two children died as babies and Maude was tragically drowned at Southport in 1901. The family graves are at Mutdapilly Both brothers settled at first at Normanby Reserve (Harrisville) and are recorded as Living at Milbong, Milora, Mutdapilly, Goolman, Mt Walker, Ipswich and Wooloman. They were small farmers and very involved in their Church and local Community. To commemorate their contribution to the Fassifern we invite all Families associated with Silas and Walter's families to join us in a Family Day in October.
