    3. My husband's grandfather, Edward BEAUCHAMP of Hale, Hants, is believed to have played cricket for Hampshire; is there any way I can check this up, please? The date would probably be before WWI when he was in his twenties. He would have been a 'player', not a 'gentleman'. Marion Hall

    2. Hi Marion, Your best bet is to find a copy Wisden Cricketers Almanack for one of the years that he might have played for them. Contact the Hampshire County Cricket Club. They are sure to have a web site. Might be worth seeing if there are any cricketing buffs in the current family or amongst your friends./ HTH - Anthony ---- marion <[email protected]> wrote: > My husband's grandfather, Edward BEAUCHAMP of Hale, Hants, is > believed to have played cricket for Hampshire; is there any way I can > check this up, please? Marion, I've had a quick look at the Cricket Archive website (www.cricketarchive.com) - and didn't find anything there for a BEAUCHAMP playing for Hampshire. Doesn't mean he didn't, but nothing listed there. Karen

    3. This means he definitely did not play first-class i.e. "county cricket" for Hants (or any other county). He could have played at a minor level or perhaps just had a trial for the county.
