    3. Dear subscribers, this is my first message on this message list so I beg a little indulgence please. Mary Isabel BERRY nee' GADD was my great grandmother, and the subject of a six year search for her, the grandmother of my father whom he never knew existed. This search is finally drawing to a conclusion with the arrival of her death certificate this week here in Australia. The information contained says that she was 91 years old and passed away on the 11th September 1953 at 20 New Street, Lymington, the certificate was issued on the 15th September. In the occupation column it says she was of 5 Meadow Road, Pennington U.D. (Urban District) widow of Ernest Frank Berry a Butcher (retired). The earlier record I have of Mary Isabel is when she married Ernest Frank BERRY in 1903 then a builders labourer, at Saint Pauls Church, Milford On Sea. Questions are..... Is there a local cemetery where a record of Mary Isabel's burial may be recorded and who or how do I get in touch with them? Would there have been a death/funeral notice in the local Lymington newspaper for the week around 15th September 1953? Are there any Lymington/Hampshire directories which may have Mary Isabel Berry listed? I assume that she may have been resident at 5 Meadow Road, Pennington for a considerable period, would this residence be still in existence? Sorry for the shopping list of questions, but after six years I have a 50 year life span to complete, and my location in Australia prevents a personal search of the available Hampshire Archives. kind regards Bob Campbell Brisbane

    3. Hi Bob Since Mary Isabel was 91 in 1953, it would be worth looking up the censuses from 1851 to 1901 to try to find info. This might lead to you finding a birth for her (assuming you do not have this) Also looking at records for Gadd and Berry in Hampshire Records Office online might yield something - I have had copies of wills sent to Australia from there and found the system works well. Their address is www.hants.gov.uk/archives/catalog.htm Best wishes Lyn Sydney ----- Original Message ----- From: "bob campbell" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, May 01, 2008 5:07 PM Subject: [HAM] Mary Isabel BERRY deceased September 1953 Lymington > Dear subscribers, > this is my first message on this message list so I beg a little indulgence > please. > > Mary Isabel BERRY nee' GADD was my great grandmother, and the subject of a > six year search for her, the grandmother of my father whom he never knew > existed. > This search is finally drawing to a conclusion with the arrival of her > death certificate this week here in Australia. > > The information contained says that she was 91 years old and passed away > on > the 11th September 1953 at 20 New Street, Lymington, the certificate was > issued on the 15th September. > > In the occupation column it says she was of 5 Meadow Road, Pennington U.D. > (Urban District) widow of Ernest Frank Berry a Butcher (retired). > > The earlier record I have of Mary Isabel is when she married Ernest Frank > BERRY in 1903 then a builders labourer, at Saint Pauls Church, Milford On > Sea. > > Questions are..... > > Is there a local cemetery where a record of Mary Isabel's burial may be > recorded and who or how do I get in touch with them? > Would there have been a death/funeral notice in the local Lymington > newspaper for the week around 15th September 1953? > Are there any Lymington/Hampshire directories which may have Mary Isabel > Berry listed? > > I assume that she may have been resident at 5 Meadow Road, Pennington for > a > considerable period, would this residence be still in existence? > > Sorry for the shopping list of questions, but after six years I have a 50 > year life span to complete, and my location in Australia prevents a > personal > search of the available Hampshire Archives. > > kind regards > Bob Campbell > Brisbane > > For FREE online parish register transcriptions visit the Hampshire OPC at > www.knightroots.co.uk > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the > quotes in the subject and the body of the message >
