Hello, I'm brand new to the list in order to pursue a family story with few details: Betty and Jane were possibly sisters or 1/2 sisters of a foremother (grand/great/ggrandmother?). They were employed by Winchester Cathedral as cooks. Now whether that meant they worked in the bishop's home...I'm not sure. Anyway, the story is that there was fat on the floor of the kitchen, one of the sisters fell, hit her head on the floor, and suffered brain damage. The Cathedral was kind enough, because she could no longer work, to provide her with a pension the rest of her life with the other sister providing care. I inquired of the librarian at the Cathedral if there was written record of this. It seems that a long term pension might certainly be fairly easy to find and he agreed to look. I followed up with another email about a year later and got no response. So, for whatever reason, he is unable/unwilling to assist. Can anyone give me any ideas how to follow up? Who to ask? (I am unable to pursue in person.) I have no idea as to time frame and since I don't know their last names, I have only the clues stated above. Thank you for any assistance, Pam Spooner, formerly of King's Lynn, Norfolk now in Texas [email protected] __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
