Hi, Is anyone good at reading old handwriting? I would be interested to know where a John Whlth (supposed to be WELCH!) was born.On the 1851 census he is listed as being born in Hants which I take as Hampshire and then there is another place name beginning with what I think is B but the rest of it I can't read. Can anyone decipher it for me?! This may help!Source Citation: Class: HO107; Piece: 1475; Folio: 544; Page: 43; GSU roll: 87798 Many thanks and good luck! Hi That is difficult! Ancestry show it as Bristol, but I don't think it is because that isn't in Hampshire. For those who can't find the image using the Class etc. John is in St George Hanover Square, Middlesex and born about 1811, wife Martha and WELCH is spelt Wlhth. Hope someone else has some ideas Kate -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Rosalind Read Sent: 30 April 2008 12:54 To: [email protected] Subject: [HAM] Help please with illegible place name! In The 1861 Martha is still in St Georges Sq on her own a widow with Frances and Ellenor. Bob Newell
I am going against the trend and would vote for Bassett on this one.
