Hi, An Inquest was held for my great-grandfather, William James Hellyer (1854-94) formerly of Southsea in the New Inn on 24 May 1894. Does the place still exist? Thank you, Edna - Ottawa
To: Hampshire list In Bepton (a very small village), there is the Park House Hotel (www.parkhousehotel.com) and the Country Inn (www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/29/29636/Country_Inn/Bepton). I believe both of these have changed names in the recent past, so either may formerly have been the New Inn and you could probably ask them direct. Alternatively, go to www.city-visitor.com/midhurst/inns.html, where you can see a list of pubs and hotels in and around Midhurst. I don't know of a New Inn but I have a sneaking suspicion that there was one in living memory (I've lived in the area since the 1950s). I'll ask around.
