    3. In Canada an International Reply Coupon costs $3.50. That would cover the sender for the basic rate (David Neller suggests that that is 69p), so it is not the cheapest means. If you have friend there you could write and ask them to send some local stamps to you in their next letter. David

    3. According to www.royalmail.co.uk IRC are £0.95 here but now have an expiry date of about 3 years There is a shop on the website where you buy UK stamps at face value and overseas postage is £2.15 for small orders. The website will also explain the value of stamps needed to post back to where you live. > -----Original Message----- > From: [email protected] > [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of David Parker > Sent: 01 April 2008 20:10 > To: [email protected] > Subject: [HAM] IRC = SAE > > In Canada an International Reply Coupon costs $3.50. 3. I have sent a number of letters to England with an IRC enclosed. One of the people was kind enough to let me know that one IRC is not sufficient to cover the postage of a letter to Canada, two are required - i.e. $7.00 CDN. Now I get a £5 note from the bank (or friend) about $10 CDN and send that. The actual postage is only 69p - so I am covered for a considerable number of letters with the person. If it works out that there is only one letter, I instruct the person to use the extra for postage on letters to other people. A small loss for me, but at least it covers the letters and the postoffice does not rip me off.
