I believe both of these have changed names in the recent past, so either may formerly have been the New Inn and you could probably ask them direct. Alternatively, go to www.city-visitor.com/midhurst/inns.html, where you can see a list of pubs and hotels in and around Midhurst. I don't know of a New Inn but I have a sneaking suspicion that there was one in living memory (I've lived in the area since the 1950s). I'll ask around. In 1899 the publican, should that be Inn keeper, was Harry C. Moore, New Inn, Rumbolds Hill, Midhurst. The nearest that I can find today is The Wheatsheaf, Wool Lane but it seems to have a front onto the main road, maybe I am wrong in this. Rumbolds Hill seems to be the section of the main road between the Petersfield Road and June Lane. http://londonpublichouse.com/SussexPubs/Sussex1899/Sussex1899-N.shtml Rumbolds Hill Midhurst West Sussex GU29 9DA There is a cemetery that I found on the map, Midhurst Burial Authority, Cemetery Lodge, Carron Lane, Midhurst, West sussex GU29 9LF They have a telephone number which I used but got an answering machine with the following message "This number does not take incoming calls". Useful.
