    1. [HAM] Frederick & Emma Sweetingham - Sway, Hampshire
    2. Amanda Monsen
    3. Hello, I am appealing for help with my research into the Sweetingham's of Sway. I am very interested in all information to do with Frederick Sweetingham B1810 Southampton who married Emma (maiden name unknown) B 1811 Salisbury, Wiltshire. I know they had 6 children (Walter, Emma, Henrietta, Agnes, George & Lavinia) all born in Sway. Henrietta B 1844 is my ggg grandma on my mums side. I know she had a daughter as I sent away for the birth cert. It seems the daughter (Henrietta Flora) was illegitimate as there is no father on birth certificate. Henrietta Flora married James Jordan in Sway then shortly after immigrated to Australia - where I am. I have all the census results for the family except 1841. Also There is no mention of the Sweetingham's in Rev Comyns "Sway Snippets" of 1812ish, which would suggest that Frederick didn't arrive until after that. I suppose I am after any information to do with the family history and would be so grateful for anyone's kind assistance or suggestions. I am new to FH and very eager for information. Thanks, Amanda in Sydney Australia _________________________________________________________________ Search for local singles online @ Lavalife - Click here http://a.ninemsn.com.au/b.aspx?URL=http%3A%2F%2Flavalife9%2Eninemsn%2Ecom%2Eau%2Fclickthru%2Fclickthru%2Eact%3Fid%3Dninemsn%26context%3Dan99%26locale%3Den%5FAU%26a%3D30290&_t=764581033&_r=email_taglines_Search_OCT07&_m=EXT

    3. Hi Amanda If you have not already done so, you might try this ... http://www.one-name.org/profiles/sweetingham.html Interestingly, the author of the page suggests that the Sweetingham's are often to be found in or around coastal inlets or harbours - such as Alverstoke and Portsmouth. Sway, if you did not already know, is just inland from Lymington, which has been a reasonably important harbour. 3. Hi I have sent the 1841 census off line. I found a marriage for Frederick Sweetingham to Emma Hill 10.11.1835 St. Mary's Portsmouth. 3. HI Steve, Thanks for making contact. James & Henrietta married then had Maggie May B8/10/1883, Herbert James B1885, and possibly Ernest Edwin B1887 in Sway before immigrating to Australia in 1887 (I don't have any further information, yet!). They settled in Mount Morgan in Queensland and had a further 5 children (Charkes Joseph B 1890, William Alexander B1891, John Henry B 1892, Edith Maud B 6/2/1897 & James Robert B1901 - all in Mount Morgan, QLD). Edith Maud was my Great Grandma. Perhaps there were more children as there are gaps between John, Edith & James. I would really like it if you could help me with confirming the details I have for James Jordan and his parents, grand parents, etc. I have a lot for his side but have got it all of ancestry.com.au relying on other's research. I have James B 1851 in Sway with his Father being Charles Jordan B 1821 Hampshire, His mum being Edith Gates B 1829 Sway. Charles parents being Charles B 1791 Hampshire, Ann (maidne name unknown) B 1796 Hampshire Edith's parents being Joseph Gates B 1803 hampshire, Mary Ann Whicher B 11/8/1807 England. Does any of that agree with what you have? I'm really nervous my research was flawed. Please help. Thanks you!
