Hi Kate, Thanks for all the great information and suggested resources. I will follow up with the Isle of Wight group (I didn't realize there was such a group). As for census returns, I have found my family under Hardy, Harden, and Harding; and like you, have found Charles wasn't really sure where he was born! Thanks for your offer to send census images, but I think I've got the family in all the possible census years (I did a 14 day trial with ancestry.com). I will double check when I get home (right now finishing lunch at work). I've just checked my huge RANN tree> from the island, but sadly no link with HARDY.> > Also, have a look at this site...> > http://www.isle-of-wight-fhs.co.uk/> > and particularly the BMD Index as they have a searchable index of all the> IoW records from 1837 to 2002 (2004 for Deaths). Nice little puzzle for you.> What made me suspicious is that there is a Charles HARDY christened in> Buriton Hampshire in 1809 on the IGI - see> http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=igi/search_I> GI.asp&clear_form=true> Hope this helps, rather than causes more trouble.> Kate> _________________________________________________________________ Express yourself with free Messenger emoticons.
