Sarah Bell married James Cawte August 2 1862 at Congregational Church, Jewery Street. Sarah 25 Spinster, servant, James 23, bachelor, smith. Sarah’s father John, tanner. James father ? smith. On the marriage certificate it looks like James father is Stephen but it is so smudged that I can not be sure. I have not been able to find a Stephen Cawte anywhere. The witnesses to the marriage were Thomas Shepperd and Sarah Bell. I have checked all the sites that I know of with nothing concrete. Hi Marilyn, Just thought I'd say hi as I am researching the Cawte family too. Regretfully not your branch though. My Cawtes were centered around Upham,Wickham and Botley areas of Hampshire.
