Hi, I'm hoping someone can help unravel a puzzle. Gertrude Harriet Le SANTO was the daughter of John Harry Le SANTO and Emily Harriet McDUFF. She was born in 1890 in Portsmouth. She married William David MORGANS in Portsmouth in 1911. She had two sons, William David Lloyd born 1913 in Portsmouth and Ramon S born in 1926 in Portsmouth. This is where it starts getting interesting. Ramon was apparently registered twice: Births Sep 1926 Collingridge Ramon A Le Santo Portsmouth 2b 689 Morgans Ramon S Le Santo Portsmouth 2b 689 If you search on Ramon COLLINGRIDGE you also get: Collingridge Ramon A Le Santo Portsmouth 2b See D 47 The certificate for the above entry in 1947 says the parents are Alfred Thomas Baker COLLINGRIDGE and Gertrude Harriet MORGANS formerly Le SANTO now the wife of Alfred Thomas Baker COLLINGRIDGE. Both parents sign the register and Ramon's date of birth is given as 21 July 1926. He died in 1957, age 30. I know a child can't be registered twice and if it is, the first registration is the one that stands. I also know a child's birth can be re-registered if the parents were unmarried at the time of the birth but married subsequently providing the parents could have married at the time of the birth, for instance neither were married to someone else at the time of the birth. Gertrude and Alfred married in 1939, the same year that Gertrude's eldest son, William David Lloyd married Rose Emily BAULF. William DL married as William David Lloyd COLLINGRIDGE, not as a MORGANS. He retained COLLINGRIDGE as his surname for the rest of his life. He died in 1983. I suspect he was also Alfred's son but cannot prove it. Gertrude's first husband appears to have married again in 1938. I have not found a divorce up to 1937. What I would like to know please is if there is any way to find out if there was a divorce after 1937 and also what papers would have been around that might have reported a divorce or any marital misbehaviour. I can take both Gertrude's and Alfred's lines back another 150 years and I also know the descent of Gertrude's sons. I'm just interested in what Gertrude did or didn't do and if there is any way to confirm my suspicions to some degree. Rebecca
