Just coming up to renewing my subs to Ancestry. Dose anyone have any particular opinions regarding preference of Ancestry or findmypast? Regards Ron Alexander
Actually I can see a use for both. I have, far the second time, findmypast with the 1911 census which is great. But I could not find my family in one or two censuses etc - they were fund for e by a friend with Ancestry. I then searched on the address - surname FIRTH was transcribed as Frost, Jas F was wrongly transcribed as Jos T, etc. I also found Tamar - female - transcribed once as James female.. but Ancestry has the same sorts of problems, just in different areas! Ancestry has perhaps more things, those London metropolitan archives on line are a good point, as are the Australian electoral rolls. If you can only afford one at a time, maybe make the change this year and see what you think. Dawn - Melbourne Australia >>>>>>>>>>> Just coming up to renewing my subs to Ancestry.
