Good morning Hampshire listers, I am new to this list but use the Cheshire list regularly. Familysearch/IGI shows the 1750 marriage of JAMES MILLER and ANN TUCKER in PORTSMOUTH, Does anyone have access to Portsmouth records which may give more information or does anyone know a source where I might find out a little more about MILLER, age, origin etc?. I hope to find that he originated in Manchester b. 1723, and had just returned from India after fighting the French. He was a member of the ill-fated Manchester Regiment, and had been taken prisoner at Carlisle after the Jacobite rebellion in 1745; he was sentenced to death, but pardoned upon enlistment to go to India.
