    3. Hi, On the 1891 census they are on RG12/872/17/27 - showing they were born in Devon/Cornwall, and he is a master on a tug. He was born in Cawsand - near Plymouth so I think this is his marriage on FreeBMD Jan-Mar 1874 Plymouth 5b 425 - showing Ann Maria Hoskin on the same page. This ties in with the census showing his eldest child James being 16 years old in 1891. His death is also on FreeBMD in 1898, aged 44. Hope this is the right person. 3. Peter, thank you for your reply, I'm not sure if there was a wife for Thomas, I've looked again and if you click to the next page it comes up with 9 St Michaels sq, but not with my family, I think the enumerator must have put them on the wrong page. The parents were Josiah and Louise. 3. Hello I am looking for my Poole family, and found the youngest 7 children (ages from 4-12) in the 1881 census at 13&15 Bugle Street, the head is Thomas Forder and each Poole child is listed as son or daughter, would anyone know why this was, as the children's parents are living at 9 St Michael sq Southampton with their 5 older children. In the 1891 census the children are at home with their parents again. Was 13&15 Bugle St a school? any help would be most appreciated. 3. aha! thanks. I'm going to pursue this. we'd another forebear [well forebear's brother to be precise] who managed to get himself into trouble and then transported; his records - precognition papers - were a fantastic source of info - a great glimpse into the family in the 1820s. His actual court papers have come to light so next visit to Edinburgh I'll get a look at them. It's great to find someone in the family who has rocked the boat. They leave a paper trail :-) However, i've not so far tracked down suchlike papers in south England. it's new territory for me as far as that kind of research is concerned. thanks for your time and trouble le durachd fionnghal > CM will be Court Martial. > My guess would be that he spent time in gaol for 'Absence > without leave' and/or drunkenness.

    2. Hi there Thanks for your thoughts. So far I have checked Ancestry, Find my Past, Family Search and all the census results as well as other people trees .... no luck. :( I have just sent awa for a copy of Mary Russell's birth certificate as she was the youngest and the format had changed by then. It takes about three weeks for them to arrive here. How do you check Parish Chests and the other less common sources of information? I have thought about sorting out all the Romsey Russells and work out who belongs to who from all the record but is will be very time consuming. we went to the LDS on Friday night but they were closed as their internet was not working. What are the names of the adjacent census areas? 2. I am looking for information about Thomas Russell 1807 Chilworth - 1879 Romsey. All these dates are 'about'. His mother was Sarah but I have no other information. He Married Dina Dian/Dinah and their children were Sarah 1928, Eizabeth 1832, James 1836, Thomas 1839, Edmund 1841, Ann 1843 and Mary 1846. The family lived in Romsey Extra when the family was growing up according to the census returns. I know the descendants of James (our family) and the decsendants of Edmund but none of the others. We dont seem to be able to find out anything else about the family, can you help? Smiles Pat We are here to change the world with small acts of thoughtfulness done daily rather than with one great breakthrough - Rabbi Harold Kushner Please consider the environment before printing this email.

    3. Pat have you checked free BMD for possible deaths or marriages from when you cannot find them on census/es? If not then this should be a consideration. Also have you checked census/es on both find my past and ancestry if not then these are both worth checking as sometimes they are on one and not the other. You can order films in from your local LDS family history centre or library too for Romsey etc. Just a few thoughts. Linda & Tony
