When I looked again at the original message you sent I realised that the birth place for the last two children appeared under their first names, just the way it came up on the screen, and not being very bright, I thought it was their surname!!! Sorry to have been a nuisance. Will make sure I read things properly in future. Thank you for your kindness. Joy

    3. Dear Lesley, Bless you for your patience! I'd always accessed your transcripts through Alan McGowan's excellent Hampshire Family History site, which takes you straight to the parish register & census index pages. 'Have just tried your own link and have to say what a wonderful & professional site it is - no problems at all in accessing the transcripts. Thank you so much for all the hard work you've put in to transcribing all these documents over the years - it truly is appreciated. Warm regards, Marie. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lesley C. 3. Hi Lesley, I could almost see you sat there pulling your hair out, wondering what the blazes were we going on about. It's very difficult on times to phrase it in a way that is easy and clear for others to understand, but, we finally made it between us! lol It's you who needs thanking for your patience, not us. It shouldn't be too difficult to add text to the opening page if you managed it to the next page in, all works on the same principle. I'm a web designer, but I don't use rootsweb hosting, so I'm just assuming this, and am probably getting it wrong! lol Once again, as so many others have said, thank you for all your time, effort and hard work in getting the transcripts done, you're a gem! take good care, and please, keep in touch OK? 3. > Hi Lesley. > Have tried several times to get your website for the marriages in > Petersfield but each time I enter the name I want it > switches to Ancestry and asks me to sign up. What am I doing wrong. Hi guys The penny has finally dropped as to the problem people are having with the search facility on my site, It belongs to Ancestry.com who sponsor the freepages and without them I would not have a webpage BUT it appears at the very top and people think it is a search facility for my site, so I have entered text which should appear just below the offending boxes to alert folks it is not mine. I could not see the problem people were having because I knew the advert had to be there and so I don't take any notice of it, and so forgetting that visitors would. I thought a separate window was appearing which was not what the problem was, of course. It just took one very kind lady who sent me an image of the page that made me aware of what was happening. Hope all is well now. 3. Hi Joy, Sorry if there was any confusion with the 1851 census information on your William SPENCER - all the children share this surname. It must be something to do with the way I typed the information in my message, as it looks quite different on the archives page. Here it is again - hopefully clearer now!! William SPENCER, head, mar, age 26, occupation Painter, born Hants, Medstead. Elizth. SPENCER, wife, age 28, born Hants, Old Alresford. Elizth. SPENCER, daug, age 5, born Hants, Old Alresford. Samuel SPENCER, son, age 1, born Hants, Bishops Sutton. Mary SPENCER, daug, age 2 months, born Hants, Bishops Sutton. Their address is given as "Village", Bishops Sutton Parish (in the area of Alresford).
